BIOLOGÍA MOLECULAR , Jardin botánico

El laboratorio de Biología Molecular tiene como línea de actuación preferente la obtención de marcadores moleculares con el fin de aplicarlos a la identificación taxonómica, la sistemática, la estructura genética poblacional, la filogeografía, evolución y conservación de organismos vegetales endémicos del Mediterráneo, con especial énfasis en aquellos que tienen poblaciones fragmentadas y que habitan la Península Ibérica y las islas del Mediterráneo Occidental.

Existen otras líneas de investigación aplicada relacionadas con el fraude alimentario (detección de conservantes de origen vegetal), la autentificación de plantas medicinales y la identificación de especies incluidas en el convenio CITES mediante técnicas moleculares.
